“Jinko” (Animals and Us)

Jinko

I had a very clever dog named Jina. She lived in a small room and was very fond of playing with my youngest brother, who was learning to walk. Jina used to grab my brother by his clothes with her teeth and knock him down. One morning Jina didn't come out of her hole as usual. I approached it and noticed the muzzles of nine white puppies inside. I was happy and told everyone about the news. My brother called the puppies Jina babies or just Jinbas. In two months the puppies grew into big dogs and we gave them to our friends except for one without a name. My brother used to stroke the animal calling it Jinko. Jinko is five now.

“My first salary” (Stories About Spring)

My fingers were so frozen that they were stuck on the keyboard. I could see two letters instead of one. My ears were red because of the cold, but I was continuing to work. I was creating a web sight for the organization where my father is working. It was my first serious work. When I'd finished my work it was like I aged 50 years. My father presented me a watch for my job. When I came close to the window I saw that it was already spring. And I wasn’t cold any more.

“The poor hungry girl” (Confusion)

The bell rang and the teacher entered the classroom. She was about to start the class when she noticed Anahit with her head bent down on the desk. She wouldn’t raise it. The teacher came up to her and asked: “What’s wrong? Do you feel bad?”
“I feel sick, very sick.”
This poor girl must be starving, I suppose, she hasn’t eaten anything, the teacher thought.
“Take this money, you should eat. Go right to the cafeteria. I’ll make sure that you have eaten something.”
Anahit went to the cafeteria. She was smiling when she came back.
“And what had you eaten in the evening, Anahit?” the teacher asked.
“Barbecue, dolma, candies and sweets.”
“Who made all this food for you?”
“My mom did. We had guests over to celebrate my dad’s new Mercedes.”

“Gold hands” (If I didn't exist...)

I can make radio and electrical equipment; I have renovated my mother's electrical plugs. My father is so proud of me, that one time, when the building's electricity caught fire, he said to the electricians to tell Sarkis to fix it. We said that I was an expert, but that doesn't mean that I can do everything!
