“Stories About Spring”

Topic:

“The spring”

“Dear pupils you should write an essay today about spring”, said teacher and went out for a while. I was already tired of writing about spring, when I’m listening the word spring I’m thinking about the piece of paper where I should write about spring. We are writing abut spring all the time, what should I write this time, may be about the nature which is waking up during the spring time. I think I have already written about it.
Then Haroutiun asked me to help him I told him to bring me the paper, he said that he had written a little and need a little more to finish it. I asked him about what he had written. You just can’t imagine what he told me, he started to read, “It’s spring time, the leaves on the trees had turned to yellow, the birds had flown to the warm, north countries.” When I heard that I told him that everything he had written was wrong. He said, “It doesn’t matter, Gor, you just check the grammar.” When I was checking the essay he was standing next to me. After finishing that I started to think about my essay when one of my classmates asked me a question. Almost five minutes no one was disturbing me and I had already written about the leaves, big rain drops when Vahe came and asked me to check his essay too. I got very angry but I checked it. Some minutes later Vahe’s essay which was about flowers, was checked too.
Suddenly teacher entered the classroom, she was angry cause we were making noise. Then my classmate Feliks asked me a question too. Albert told that he would probably get not a bad mark.
Anyway, it was a real spring outside, such kind of spring that we never write about it in our essays.

“Once upon a time in spring”

It was my friend Hovik's birthday. We gave him gifts during the break time. Almost all of us had brought official presents, like a tie, calculator, a notebook and etc. My friend was very happy because he had received a big bag of gifts. After the classes Hovik invited us to the cafe. So we went to the “Smak” as we were very hungry, we had everything very quickly and after fifteen minutes we just had nothing to do. My friends went home, but I was waiting for my father. I thought that we would stay two hours in the cafe. Now I had to wait my parents in the street. As they were late so I decided to walk a little. I was enjoying the spring for half an hour. My parents were still being late so I was still enjoying the beauty of the spring which started to bore me. My parents were late after an hour so I felt a little hunger. Then I was just tired of the spring beauty and I got angry both on spring and on Hovik. So I started to think if I hadn't bought a present for Hovik, I could have some money with me now and of course I could buy something to eat. I thought, “What a day was Hovik born? If his birthday was a day later I could buy something to eat and he could be younger. ” While I was thinking what kind of food I could buy instead of buying a present, my parents came.

“Spring confusion”

Almost all the holidays are in spring. One of these holidays is the Beauty holiday, on the 8th of March. My classmates had prepared some presents for us on that day. Some of our boys were standing near the doors and they didn’t let us in. But we noticed an unusual confusion in the classroom. When we were already tired of waiting finally the boys let us in. The blackboard was decorated with the balloons of different colors like red, yellow, green, blue and etc. The presents were on the piano. The boys brought some needles and suggested us to blow up the balloons. We found some papers in the balloons on which some numbers were written. That was the numbers of our gifts. We liked the way they had decided to give us the presents. We received our gifts and went home.

“Step on the ground carefully”

I like the garden of our summer house very much. I like it mostly in the spring. The garden was with two balconies, the first one is higher than the second one. One spring day me and my aunt were walking in the first balcony.
I asked Tam,” What kind of tree is this?”
She answered, “It’s not a tree it’s a bush of a flower.”
I turned to look it once more and I fell.
While my aunt was calling my name I was already in the second balcony. I had fallen badly but there was nothing serious with me if we don’t consider my foot injury. I am walking very carefully in our garden since that day even in spring.

“It’s hard to be a pupil”

I was already at the 6th form, it was the lesson of Mathematics. The sun was shining and my hand was already tired of writing that’s why I stopped writing looked out of the window. The sun was shining and the sky was so blue. I tried to breathe the fresh air of the spring but it was only the dusty air of my classroom. I closed my eyes and imagine how beautiful it is in my garden now. Then the view of my garden disappeared when my teacher said with the voice of Maria Kisilyova (the reporter of the “Weak Circle” TV show), “Eleonora please repeat what I have just told.”
Fortunately I have heard the last phrase she had told and I repeated it immediately. She said okey, though she knew that I wasn’t listening to her. I started to solve that awful problem again, but I found the page of my claims and started to read the claims and suddenly a brilliant idea came to me. The teacher wasn’t looking at me, and I took a piece of paper and started to write. When I finished I throw out the page of claims because I had written another thing about “It’s hard to be a pupil”. The bell rang and I went out to enjoy the beautiful spring day.

“A spring trip”

A spring trip

One fine spring day we went to mount Ara. I was climbing very fast. Me and my brother were very thirsty and were drinking a lot of water. We reached to the Tsaghkavanq and we there drank water too. Then we came down of the mount and went home through a long way. I wasn’t tired at all and wanted to go to the mount Ara one more time, but no one wanted to go there. They told that they were tired. I was sad, but not so much, because I had already seen it.

“What a crazy month”

It was March and we were thinking about how to get out of class. It was a very bright day, the air was fresh and it wasn’t even raining. When we were out the gates, the sky turned gray. We thought it wouldn’t rain and decided to walk. Suddenly it started to rain and we got wet. Fortunately, some of us were going to Nork and were near the bus station. It was very hard to get home with the heavy bags. When I got home my mother was surprised to see me wet. She asked me about it and I told her that it was raining outside. But soon she understood that I was lying. Then I told her the truth. She said that only if I'd skipped class she would be angry with me, but if I was with my classmates then she wouldn’t be angry.
I’m finishing my story, but I will never forget that spring day because I caught a cold and was ill for a month.

“Jenny”

The winter wouldn't end, it seemed, although it was spring outside. Some dogs were running in the yard. I went out and said, “Look at what I brought for you, Jenny.” One of the dogs ran up to me and I repeated what I said to her again, "Look at what I brought for you, Jenny." Then I gave Jenny a piece of bread. Jenny was so thirsty that she didn’t eat the bread. She made me understand that she wanted water by going over to her empty water bowl. I gave Jenny water. When she drank the water she ate the bread too. I brought a blanket for Jenny and placed it on the ground. She made herself comfortable on it and then fell asleep at once. I went home and fell asleep too. In my dream I saw that Jenny was living in my house and was playing with me.
When I went to school in the morning Jenny was still sleeping on my blanket. All day at school I was thinking about Jenny. I was impatiently waiting to play with Jenny.
It was a warm weather outside so I thought that Jenny would not be cold any more.

“My grandpa likes to joke”

The friend of my father had presented some flower seeds. He had brought them from India and was sure that they were very beautiful flowers. When the spring came we put the seed under the ground and were waiting for them to become some beautiful flowers.
But the flowers weren’t growing. We were very sad about it.
All of us were at home when the phone rang. My grandpa was calling, he said, “ Hello David how are you?” I said that I had missed him very much.
My grandpa told,” If I tell you something you won’t believe me.”
He said that our Indian flowers had grown up.
Some minutes later all of us were going to the summer house to see the flowers. When we reached there we found out that my grandpa was just joking because it was the 1st of April.

“A dog story”

We were getting ready for the competition. I have already told you about that competition but if you don’t remember I can retell it one more time. A competition of the English language should occur between two teams at my school. I was the head of my team. We were getting ready for it almost every day. It was already spring so we decided to get ready in Gevorg’s garden. Gevorg was living in Kond. We reached there through the long way. When we reached to Gevorg’s house he showed us his dog. I told them that you can go without me, I won’t come.
To tell the truth I’m very afraid of dogs. Then everyone started to push me. And finally they made me enter Gevorg’s house. The place were the dog was living was closed with a stick and was near the house.
Then they told me to make the sentence “I have got a brother” negative and interrogative. I cried at that moment because Gevorg’s brother has opened the door of the dog. I don’t want to tell what had happened after that, but it was the last visit to Gevorg’s house.

“My first salary”

My fingers were so frozen that they were stuck on the keyboard. I could see two letters instead of one. My ears were red because of the cold, but I was continuing to work. I was creating a web sight for the organization where my father is working. It was my first serious work. When I'd finished my work it was like I aged 50 years. My father presented me a watch for my job. When I came close to the window I saw that it was already spring. And I wasn’t cold any more.

“A photograph”

We went to the excursion to Aghveran one nice spring day. My father wanted to come with us because of the fine weather. Our family joined our classmates. My father came with his car, we spent a good time. When the bus came I asked my father to stay a little longer with my friends. My father agreed. I told my friends to take a picture by standing on the stones of the river. When I was jumping from one stone to another suddenly I fell in the river. I hurt my leg; my father took me to the nearest hospital. They put some bandages on my leg and we returned to Aghveran. When my sister saw me she called my mother. My father told me to play a little but only not near the river. We didn’t have the photograph on the stones in the river. My friend told me to take another picture under the tree and we finally took a photograph.

It was spring. My father told me that he had missed my grandpa. So he took us to Goris to visit him. It was a shiny day. I didn’t feel that I was tired on the way. My cousin told me that the lizards are on the stones now because it was warm day. He told me to catch a lizard and take it to Yerevan. When we were getting close to the lizards they were running away from us. We could only catch the tail of the lizard. I tried for three days but I was catching only the tails of the lizards. My grandpa told me that the tails of the lizards are turning into money. So we think that if the tails of Vardan turned into money we would become millioners. If you keep the tail of the lizard in your pocket you will become rich. I’m not against to become a rich person, but I won’t keep the tail in my pocket, because I hate it.

“A short happiness”

We were waiting the whole winter, they told us that it’s cold outside and the puppy would get ill. They promised me that they would buy a puppy at spring time. Me and my sister were waiting for the spring. But it wasn’t the first winter we were waiting for the puppy. When I remember my past, I was waiting for my puppy all the time. Sometimes I was bringing the puppy to our home from the yard. But one day I bathe and made the puppy dry with my mother’s hair drier. But my mother never let the puppy stay with me. It was already spring and the day that they should bring the puppy was approaching. We brought him to our house, it was very little. We called the puppy Ricky. My father loved him the most. If we don’t walk carefully we will step on Ricky’s leg because he is very little. My mother didn’t want Ricky to stay with us; he was only 10 days with us when my mother took him back.
That spring started happily, but our happiness didn’t last so long.

“Flower Conversation”

Tick-tick...
“What is that?”
“I don’t know.”
“My head is wet,” said the flower behind the hut.
“Don’t worry, you’ll freshen up and your petals will get clean from dust,” said another flower which grew nearby.
“It might be the snow melting from the hut’s roof.”
“Let’s forget about it. Better tell me how did you sleep last night?”
“I did not sleep very well.”
“Why?”
“Because it was raining all night.”
“Sometimes the sky is bright and blue; other times it is gray and dark.”
“You are right.”
“If I could walk, I would go find it and show it who I am.”
Few minutes later a mighty sound scared both flowers.
“What is that?”
“No idea.”
Shortly after when the flowers saw the lightning they understood everything. The sky got angry and it was trying to scare the little flowers.
“So you want to scare us, huh?” said the flower.
“You can’t do that anyway,” continued the other one.
The sky made even louder noise; it decided to punish the flowers. So each year in spring the sky gets angry and tries to punish the flowers; it is dark and gray one day and sunny and bright the other.

“In five minutes.”
“So, stay after classes and we’ll go to buy presents for the teachers.”
“OK.”
Some of my classmates and I went to chose presents. We had already decided which shop we would go. On our way we saw the boys from our class, but we didn’t approach them. They were also going to buy presents for the 8th of March from the same shop. I wanted to know very much what they were going to buy for us, but I couldn’t know.

It was a beautiful morning. I was up and looking through the window. I saw a beautiful scenery. I decided to go out for a walk. I dressed up, prepared everything and asked, “Mother, I am going to the yard for a walk, can I?”
“Yes, of course, just try not to get dirty.”
“Sure, Mom.”
“Don’t be too late.”
“Bye, Mom.”

Finally, I’m in the elevator. Thirty minutes pass and I am still in. There is no sound. I start to think out loud.

“Why did the silly elevator need to break down today? I won’t get out of here.”
Then suddenly, the elevator moved. I got outside and saw that it was raining. I went back home, this time on foot, as you would guess. I opened the door…
“Did you have a nice walk, Ann?”
“Of course, I did.”
“What did you do during the rain?”
“I was walking.”
“How come you’re not wet?”
“I was walking under the trees, I guess.”
“Right.”
I silently went to my room. To tell the truth, ever since that day I don’t use the elevator, especially in spring.”

How much I hate this spring… Yes, I hate it. What must I love about it? Rainy streets or crazy weather?
“Look, it smells like spring,” my friend said.
“How can it smell like spring when you are walking near all this garbage from construction?”
“Spring is good, isn’t it, Anush?”
I keep silent.
“It would be better if we were in love…”
“Yeah right, if you were in love you would walk dreamily into a puddle,” I am thinking to myself but not saying it out loudly. Just because I don’t like spring I cannot make my friend stop dreaming.
“If only I had time, I would walk for hours and would enjoy spring in Yerevan,” she goes on.
If she continues like this I will voluntarily get into a puddle to have an excuse for going home and not listening to this romantic stuff.
“Hey, look, this tree has got buds, isn’t it beautiful?”
“Uhhuh, ” I nod hopelessly trying to find beauty in buds on the tree. All in vain; I am not a spring person. I walk home in an apathetic mood.
I hate this weather, what can you do about it?

“Guys, let’s skip classes today,” said Edward.
“No, it is not a good idea,” I said.
“We better lock the door,” said Karen.
“Let’s do it, if you want it so much,” said Felix.
“What if they get angry,” said Ann fearfully.
“We can say the lock got broken,” said Felix.
“Right, because it is old,” I said inspired.
“We better leave some of the pupils outside the class. That would be more convincing.”
“We'll do that.”
“Guys, if you want to eat something do it now, because we won’t be able to do it after.”
Everybody left the class. The bell rang.
“How much time is left?” I asked Felix.
“Seven minutes.”
Seven minutes passed. The bell rang again.
“Where is the key?”
“Here.”
“Give it to me. Gevorg, Anna, Susik go outside.”
Arthur opened the door and Gevorg, Anna and Susik went out. Arthur closed the door.
Somebody began to move the doorknob from the other side. We all knew what to do. We began to cry that the door had been locked. A few minutes passed. We couldn’t keep the door closed anymore, so we had to open it. The teacher entered the class. Her face was red with anger.
“If you think you can get away with it, you are wrong.”
And she began the class.
“Felo?”
“I haven’t repeated the lesson yet.”
“Ann?”
“I went to the doctor and didn’t have time to study.”
“Samvel?”
“I am not ready.”
“Everybody gets an F. I am very hurt. Do you understand that each time you do something bad a nerve cell dies in me?”
The children laughed. The bell rang. And so we went home with bad marks but still happy, admiring the spring on the way.

“Girls, tomorrow is the first of March, the first day of spring,” I said to my friends.
“Finally, the cold winter is over,” said one of my friends.
And we were talking and walking home from school when suddenly I said:
“Can you imagine that boys will give us flowers tomorrow. I will tell you something but please don’t tell it anyone. Yesterday I heard that David talked about flowers, maybe they want them for us?”
“That would be nice,” girls agreed unanimously. Me, I was sure we would get flowers. So we departed. When I went home I told my mother:
“Mom, I heard that boys had decided to give us flowers for the first of March. I heard a conversation David and Hayk had.”
We didn’t speak about it anymore. It was morning. First we congratulated each other and I went to school. On the way I almost already smelled the flowers. I couldn’t wait to get to school.
I entered the classroom, everything was as usual. There was nothing extraordinary. The boys were near the window; they were talking, while the girls were waiting. Two or three lessons passed and I couldn’t wait any longer.
“Flowers, where are the flowers, David?”
“What?”- asked David surprised.
“Don’t ask him anything,” girls said. “Don’t you see they want to surprise us?”
“OK,” I said and bluntly changed the topic.
Lessons passed but we didn’t receive the awaited surprise. I came home; I was in bad mood. But suddenly I saw flowers and a card on my table in my room. The card said: “My girl, I congratulate you on the first day of spring. I wish you to be always beautiful. Your father.”
Of course, I was very happy, but the flowers were not from the boys. Later I found out that David and Hayk were planning to get flowers for their girlfriends. I couldn’t sleep all night.
“I will not listen to other people’s conversation ever again, or if I do I’ll make sure I listen to it carefully.”

“Besides rain, we have the 8th of March and the 7th of April so we would have to collect money to buy presents for our teachers.”
“Everybody wants money.”
“True.”
“I like spring only for cherry white blossoms and swallows’ singing.”
“The only thing I don’t like is thunder.”
“Me too.”
We ended our talk about spring and left the park.

“But what if the boys invite us to a cafe or somewhere on that day? What am I going to do in that case?”
Then I had an idea.
“If my classmates decide to invite us it will be till 2:00 in the afternoon. So I will go out with my aunt after 2:00, and we can go to a restaurant in the evening.”

“Guys,” Hovik said, “on the 8th of March we are buying gifts for the girls.”
“Are you crazy? What did they buy for us? Perfume for 1000 drams,” David said. “We can go to “Elki-Palki” and eat something instead.”
“What am I hearing? We must defend the girls,” said our poet Vahag.
“Shut up dummy. Better go shave yourself.”
“So guys, bring 1000 drams.”
“1000 drams? What for? Are you crazy? We can buy flowers for them and spend the rest of the money on food.”
“You only think about your eating.”
“I am going to hit you. Look at yourself, you’re fat, who is the one thinking about eating?”
That was when David and Hovo hit each other.
“Bring 1000 drams,” said Hovik.
“Yes, the girls are worth it,” said the poet.
“Will you shut up?”
“OK, but I am going to bring only 500 dram, I’ll get a sandwich with the rest of money.”
“Mean!”

It was the first of March. The lessons were over and the girls were deciding the time to go to Anush’s. We were pleased not because it was the first of March, but because it was Anush’ birthday. And the most important thing was that there weren’t going to be any boys.
“OK, girls, I’ll be waiting for you at 2:00,” Anush said and left in a hurry, probably to set a table.
“Oh yeah, ” I though and smiled secretly.
Anna forgot about the party and didn’t get a present.
“Maneh, I don’t know where Anush lives, will you call me so that we go there together?”
Ani and I began to laugh so violently that we had to hold each other.
“Anna, don’t you know where Anush lives?” asked Ani laughing.
“No, I don’t.”
“You’re funny, aren’t you from our class?” I said, but then got serious and added: “Sure, I will call you and we’ll go there together.”
“Well, I better go,” said Anna and ran to manage to buy a present.
“It’s all the same, I got the best present,” – I though to myself.
Everybody left. It was 2:00 already; I got Anush’s present and was ready to leave.
“Maneh, aren’t you going to have lunch?” my mother asked.
“But Mom, I am going to a party.”
On my way I was thinking about delicious food I was going to eat and how I was going to dance, so I didn’t pay much attention to the spring.
Finally we were at Anush’s. We were talking with each other when Anush’s phone rang. The caller was Anna. I forgot about her. Now I had to go outside and meet her. For ten minutes Ani and I were standing on the street waiting for Anna.
“Maybe she is buying a present,” I said.
“I don’t know,” replied Ani.
Fifteen minutes passed. I was thinking how the girls were eating salads around the table; I was very hungry.
Another ten minutes passed. Then we saw a girl approaching.
“She looks like Anna,” I said.
“What are you talking about? She looks like a French girl,” replied Ani.
The French girl approached us, it was Anna. She was so beautiful; she had a new haircut, she was wearing pretty earrings and was walking and enjoying the spring.
“And we thought she was buying a present,” whispered Ani.
Finally, we were in front of the table. I was served the first.
“Anush, did you cook it?”
“No, my mom did.”
I was going to eat when I saw a hair in my plate. I didn’t eat. I sat silently and when I was asked why I would not eat I said I had a toast to propose.
After the toast I had to eat something.
“Anush, did you make that salad?”]
“No, my grandma did,” Ani replied with a smile.
“Sure, that is why there is a gray hair in it,” I muttered to myself.
Then I thought that probably her redhead aunt made a salad too. Everybody was eating and I had to propose more toasts. Everybody was tired of me and I was tired of toasts. I had to leave early because I had to go somewhere else.
“Thank you for wonderful food,” I made myself mutter and left.
Next day I found out that after I left they had an ice-cream. I was very glad I left before that. It would have been hard to look at how others eat ice-cream, since surely there would be a hair in my ice-cream.
